WHY LLAMAS?

Llamas, close relatives of the camel, have been used for thousands of years to help pack supplies through the Andes mountain ranges. Their leather-padded feet and natural agility give them a sure-footedness unmatched by humans.

Llamas are curious, alert, and adventurous,  and they love being out in the wilderness just as much as we do. While naturally gentle, friendly, and not easily spooked, they have exceptional senses of smell, hearing, and sight, and are often able to alert us of things we may not see otherwise.

The best part of having a llama as a hiking companion is that each llama can comfortably pack between 50 and 65 pounds. This means you don't have to worry about lugging your supplies up hills and through rugged terrain - all you need to concern yourself with is taking in the abundance of the glorious nature all around you.

OUR LLAMAS

All of our llamas have been raised in a 4-H environment, so they are very comfortable with people and activity. They're well trained and absolutely love to be out in the wilderness. They get as excited as we do when they know they're going to be heading out on a trip.

Our llamas are Ccara llamas, which literally means "working llama". These llamas are bred for mountain packing. Ccara llamas are the perfect mix of strength, endurance, and agility. Their upbringing and athletic ability make them the perfect companion for long treks through the mountains.
